Welcome

Hello friends, family and interested onlookers. This is a blog by Kate and Matt chronicling their attempt to travel the world for a year (or more! or less!!) and stay sane in the process.

A very rough itinerary is this:
  • Kuala Lumpur
  • England
  • France
  • Spain
  • Portugal
  • Morrocco
  • Senegal
  • The Ghambia (maybe)
  • Mali
  • Togo
  • Benin
  • Burkina Faso
  • Ghana
  • Egypt
  • Jordan
  • Syria
  • Turkey
  • … Umm Eastern Europe
  • Maybe back to England while we regroup and get visas sorted for the next stretch
  • Russia
  • Mongolia
  • China
  • Vietnam
  • Cambodia
  • Laos
  • India

And that is it. Not very many countries is it? But it is very much subject to change and so we will try and keep it as up to date as possible. There are a few alternate routes and so on, but that would just be boring to list them all.

We’re hopeful of being able to update this blog semi-regularly, but who knows. Depends largely on the availability of internet in Africa and our inclination to sit around writing on a little laptop rather than actually doing things. No offence.

This is of course Matt writing all of this, but who knows at some point Kate may have a crack at writing her inner most thoughts down for all the world to see.

We are in Kuala Lumpur at the moment, having a bit of a relax after the rushed last few weeks in Perth. It’s very nice and all of that, but I’ve managed to roll my ankle twice now (same one!) so I’m a bit wary of walking now.

Anyway, we are off to the Beatles Bar – we are tourists after all – I’ll leave with this charming shot of some well dressed folks visiting the National Mosque.
